BIO BEE FARMS

There are 14 bio bee farmers, members of the Bio Bee Farms Strandja Association (BBFSA). In the Strandja Mountain century-old oak woods and beech forests filled with evergreen shrubs and rare protected plant species 1600 - 1700 bee families are being biologically raised. Association's member bio bee farmers own all these bio bee families. Each bio bee family is under the constant control of regional and national veterinary and medical services as well as of bio-certification institutions. the result is honey with exceptional taste and quality indicators.

The annual bio bee honey yield of the Bio Bee Farms Strandja Association (BBSFA)members is 18 to 30 tons of mainly manna bio honey, depending on the climate conditions of the year. Bio bee farmers members of BBSFA also produce premium herbal bio honey, bio bee pollen, and bio bee propolis.

The choice of a place for the apiary for bio (organic) beekeeping is one of the many requirements that the bee farmer should take into account. This requires not only the location where the bio bee families should be located but also the entire area with regard to the requirements, reflected in the normative documents (MAF Regulation No 35).
The place where bio bee families will be located has to meet a number of requirements related to the development of bio bee families on the one hand, and on the other hand, the opportunities for obtaining pure bio (organic) bee products.
